Creekway Village Long Term Care Facility
Burlington, Ontario
Client: Regional Municipality of Halton
Creekway Village is a 3-storey, 144 bed long term care facility, child care and regional emergency medical services (E.M.S.) station that blends into the surrounding community. This facility is the first Burlington Long Term Care residence operated by Halton Region. The building design features include two internal courtyards, gardens & walkways, enclosed balconies, electric fireplace on lounges, family guest suites, family friendly pub/tuck area, well appointed ensuite baths and spacious bedrooms with neighbourhood and garden views. The focus of great neighbourhood attention, the development of this project involved a complex range of approvals. Within the Region itself, over six user groups were engaged in dialogue and approvals of the overall design concept. Municipal approvals addressed neighbourhood concerns. As a result, an ad hoc committee of neighbors was established. We actively administered the process of dialogue and approvals from the local community rate payers groups, which included meetings and presentation materials, open houses and question / answer periods. The result of this process went beyond approval, to achieve full endorsement of the community for the new residential facility.
