In operation since 1961 and with a student population of over 300 children, Montcrest School is a coeducational independent school with classes from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. Montcrest's philosophy is that success is best achieved in the friendly atmosphere of a small class where students can receive individual attention. With the arts as an integral element of the curriculum, the renovation to Montcrest's existing facilities accommodated several classrooms, an art studio, a music room, and administrative offices. Individual interviews were conducted with each teacher and staff member to ensure a thorough understanding of their program requirements. This enabled a seamless translation of their needs in the execution of the design.
